HERE’S THE LAST EXCERPT
FROM MY BROTHER’S KEEPER

I hope you’re enjoying these readings from my novel. And I hope they’ll entice you to read the entire book.

I also hope that recent traffic they’ve encouraged can boost the prominence of my humble scribblings on the Net. A little nudge would be helpful.

According to a tracking service called WebStatsDomain.org, this blog comes in at 13,480,399th out of some 30 million domains. Not exactly a world beater.

In this age of niche marketing, I guess obscurity is my niche. But then, I don’t think of my readers as few in number, I think of you as elite.

Anyway, here’s the most exciting of these four excerpts — or perhaps it would be better to call it intense. Well, it has conflict, in any event, and I’ve tried to convey that in my oral interpretation.

We’re behind the scenes at Jesus’ trial before Pilate. James is defending his brother, as the high priest, Caiaphas, attempts to persuade the Roman prefect that Jesus is guilty of disrupting the peace…

This was a fascinating book! It was not what I thought it was going to be. I thought the main character, James the Just, was going to turn out to be one of Jesus’ Apostles and the book would describe what it was like to spread the Good News. Instead, it came from the perspective of a family member who was not 100% sure that Jesus was the Messiah. Not only that: James the Just had a sort of friendship with Pontius Pilate. The entire book put you in the Holy Land while Jesus walked. It was a fascinating read. I would recommend it, and already have!

Well worth reading. Kassel Takes Biblical facts, Historic facts, Jewish facts and traditions, and weaves them into a compelling narrative. The dialogue is believable and enlightening. Bill Kassel has created a vivid landscape for his characters that can be clearly seen felt and almost touched. The Interaction between the characters is understated and dutiful with silent respect. The reader can almost hear their thoughts in humble reverential tones. The relationships between the characters comes across as genuine and the narrative moves along smoothly.
