CRISIS MAGAZINE
LOVES MY NOVEL
Eric Sammons, editor of the prestigious journal, CRISIS, notes that he was pleasantly surprised at how much he enjoyed my novel about the family of Jesus, My Brother’s Keeper.
I had interviewed Eric about his own book, Moral Money, which examines both the practical and moral dimensions of the online exchange medium, Bitcoin.
Afterward, I mentioned my novel, My Brother’s Keeper, and then sent him a copy…
He read it while on vacation, and decided to write a review in which he admitted to feeling some “trepidation” at reading a fictional depiction of Jesus…
“I groaned a bit inside when [Kassel] described it …. I figured I would read the first chapter or two, then set it aside and forget about it.
“That’s not what happened, however.”
Eric goes on to describe his surprise at my treatment of the Lord and His family — and at his enjoyment of the novel.
His bottom line?…
“After reading My Brother’s Keeper, I feel as if the Gospels are more alive than before.”
I’m grateful to Eric for his open-mindedness in approaching the book, and for his heartfelt endorsement.
